Privacy policy

Pest-Intel is an independent agricultural field intelligence service operated by Augustine Ofosu, who is responsible for the service and its handling of your personal information. Contact digitizemeglobal@gmail.com about privacy, access, correction or deletion.
Information used by the service
Depending on the features you use, Pest-Intel processes account names, usernames, email addresses, optional phone numbers and profile photos; farmer and farm profiles; GPS coordinates and farm boundaries; crop observations and photographs; diagnosis and forecast results; messages and media attachments; and device notification tokens. Farmer profiles may include age, gender, education and agricultural assets.
Why information is processed
Information supports accounts, field surveillance, farm mapping, crop assessment, pest forecasting, expert advice, communication and notifications. Submit farmer information only with the appropriate consent or other authority. Authorised programme administrators and experts can review records according to their access permissions. The app also provides an account directory to other authenticated users. This directory includes account names, usernames, email addresses, user identifiers, optional phone numbers and profile photos, and is available independently of sending a message. Registry and surveillance information may be used for programme monitoring and research.
External services
New automated plant diagnosis, crop diagnosis and surveillance analysis submissions are paused until a provider agreement permits processing only to deliver the requested Pest-Intel service for its operator and prohibits the provider's own model training or other reuse of submitted photos. Existing saved results remain available. When those submissions are enabled after that requirement is met, plant and crop diagnosis providers operated by Kindwise process submitted images and related context. The pause prevents new diagnosis submissions; it does not establish that previously submitted photos have been deleted by the provider. Open-Meteo processes coordinates for weather queries; configured geocoding providers, including Google or OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, process coordinates for place lookup. Copernicus Data Space processes farm polygons for satellite analysis. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging supports notifications, including device tokens, sender names and message previews. The service operator does not authorise diagnosis providers to use submitted photos to train their own models. Diagnosis providers must process those photos only to deliver the requested Pest-Intel service on the operator's instructions; this restriction must be reflected in the provider agreement and account configuration. These services may process information outside Ghana. The services actually contacted depend on the features and configuration in use. Contact us for information about the current configuration.
Device permissions and offline storage
Location supports geotagging and boundary mapping; camera access supports field photography; microphone access supports voice/video features; notification permission supports alerts. You can manage these permissions in your device settings. Supported records are stored locally for offline work and synchronised when connectivity returns. Signing out does not necessarily erase locally stored field records. Protect shared devices and contact support before transferring a device containing programme records.
Security and retention
The app communicates with the production server over HTTPS and uses authentication and role-based access. No system can guarantee absolute security. We keep identifiable records while needed to operate the account and requested programme services. After a verified deletion request, we wait 10 calendar days and delete your account and associated personal data on day 11, as explained in our deletion policy. This includes associated media, messages, location and notification information under our control and deletion requests to service providers. Only irreversibly anonymised statistics or personal data required for a specific legal or necessary security purpose may remain. Any personal-data exception, backup limitation and applicable retention period will be explained to you; archived or disabled records are not treated as deleted.
Your choices and deletion
You may request access, correction, deletion of selected data, or account deletion by emailing us from your registered email address. See account and data deletion instructions. Withdrawing device permissions may limit corresponding features.
Children and changes
The service is designed for agricultural field users and professional programme operations. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate authority, contact us. Material changes to this policy will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
